When Jerks Rule

Another client finally bit the bullet and showed a jerk to the door. No matter what I tell leaders, they always wait too long to do this. Sometimes they wait so long that they encounter serious problems such as lawsuits and harassment charges. More often the suffering is insidious and internal. When leaders tolerate bad behavior, they send all the wrong messages. Their employees lose faith in their leadership. Their best and most reliable employees have to pick up the slack and/or waste their time on damage control. Morale declines. Good employees leave. The jerk rules.

You know who needs to go. You know who is more trouble then they are worth. And you do no one, including the jerk, any favors by prolonging a bad situation. Don’t wait a day longer than necessary. Show the jerks to the door.
